Spent over 34 years in law enforcement. During my last 20 years, it was mandatory to carry only Glock sidearms. Approximately 15 of those years was with a Glock chambered in 40SW. After retiring 8 years ago, have recently decided to go back to shooting 9mm for personal recreation. I did this mainly for three reasons. First being the improvements in the 9mm round.
Second because of when mentoring novice shooters, the 40SW was little too 'snappy' in recoil (especially with young and older shooters). And third, the cost of 9mm over other calibers. Because of my training and qualifications with the Glock, I decided to stay with striker fire pistols. My first 'new' pistol was a HK VP9. I found that to be one of the best striker fire I ever used.
Recently, I decided to add to my collection a PPQ M1 with a 5' barrel which I purchased from GunBuyer. Again, I was thoroughly pleased.
Out of the box it shot flawlessly. Have fired 200 rounds of American Eagle 124gr FMJ and 100 rounds of PMC 115gr FMJ. Not one misfire, FTE or FTF. The PPQ is awesome and a great addition to go along with my VP9. Especially since they both have paddle magazine releases. The purchase with GunBuyer was fast and easy.
Made order on Monday, picked up PPQ on Friday. The first time mine was fired was at an organized range event with 50+ participants, all bringing their favorites to shoot and let others try. I, personally, went through 500 rounds in about two hours, but friends and visitors kept stopping by with their own Glock mags filled with their own ammo for the remaining six hours of the meetup. All totaled I think close to 3,000 rounds went down range and the only issues with FTF or FTE all happened with what was determined to be a single bad magazine. The weapon was absolutely filthy when I got to cleaning it at home, but it stood up to everything like a champ. Even a few hundred rounds of 147gr subsonic with a suppressor. A most impressive weapon!
Almost universally though, we'd love to see a 10mm upgrade kit for it, and I'd like to see more mag inserts for Beretta or CZ mags. My primary pistol is a CZ clone so being able to use the same mags in both would be great.
